Is Cod Healthy?
Cod is a nutritious and flavorful fish. It is known to be high in protein and contains fairly low concentrations of fatty acids. The fatty acids found in cod are omega-3 fatty acids that our body cannot produce on its own.
However, one thing to consider is that the concentration of omega-3 fatty acids in cod is comparatively lower than other fatty fish. This is the reason it is often not promoted as a healthy fish.
In addition to the protein and fatty acids, cod is also a rich source of B vitamins. This fish is a good source of Vitamin B6 and B12 which are important for several chemical reactions in our body.
Similarly, there are certain byproducts of cod which can be of importance to the human body. Cod liver, for example, is known to be a richer source of Vitamin D as well as omega-3 fatty acids as compared to cod fillets.
